Add-ons are optional extras customers can buy alongside a course or hire — lunch, equipment upgrades, insurance, extended time, and so on. They appear during the booking flow and are added to the order total. For broader upsell strategy across activities and shop products, see upsells.

How add-ons differ from shop products

Create an add-on

1

Open the Add-ons page

Navigate to Products → Add-ons in your admin dashboard.
2

Click Create add-on

Open the create form.
3

Enter a name

Keep it short and clear — customers see this at checkout. Examples: Lunch, Equipment rental, Extended time, Insurance.
4

Add a description (optional)

A short line explaining what’s included — e.g. Hot lunch served during the course. Optional, but it helps customers make a decision.
5

Set the price

Enter the price in your main currency.
6

Save

The add-on is now available to link to courses and hires.
You can attach add-ons in two places:
  • When creating a session — in the Resources step of the course or hire setup wizard.
  • When editing an existing session — open the session and add or remove add-ons from the Resources panel.
An add-on only appears at checkout for the sessions it’s linked to.

Common add-on ideas

Tips

  • Keep names short — long names get truncated at checkout.
  • Price add-ons reasonably relative to the main booking. A £40 add-on on a £30 course feels heavy.
  • Only link add-ons to sessions where they actually make sense. A surf course doesn’t need a Bike lock add-on.
  • Add-ons can be discounted with discount codes when you enable the add-on product type on the code.
