Each example below pairs a goal with the audience filter and content approach. For the underlying mechanics, see campaigns.

Promote upcoming sessions to recent customers

Goal: nudge people who’ve booked recently to look at what’s coming up.
  • Filter: Course purchase with a date range covering the last 1–3 months
  • Content: Lead with a friendly hello, then list 3–5 specific upcoming sessions with dates and booking links
  • Subject line: Your next session is waiting or New dates just released
Recent customers convert best — they remember you and trust the experience.

Send a seasonal promotion

Goal: drive bookings during a peak or quiet period.
  • Filter: Broad — recent or all subscribed contacts
  • Content: Clear seasonal offer with a date range
  • Pair with: An auto-applied discount code so the promotion is frictionless at checkout
Spell out the offer in the subject line — 15% off summer sailing beats Sailing news.

Send a campaign to a certain group

Goal: targeted message to schools, families, members, or any tagged segment.
  • Filter: Contact tag — e.g. school or member
  • Content: Speak directly to that group’s needs and language
Tag your contacts proactively (in their profile) so segments are ready when you need them.

Re-engage customers who haven’t booked recently

Goal: bring back lapsed customers.
  • Filter: Combine Contact subscribed (signed up more than 6 months ago) with Course not attended in last 6 months if available
  • Content: Lead with what’s new since they last booked, then offer a small incentive
  • Pair with: A targeted discount code tracked separately so you know if re-engagement is working
Keep the tone friendly, not desperate — We miss you often works better than a hard sell. Goal: turn one-off customers into repeat or higher-value bookings.
  • Filter: Course purchase on the gateway activity
  • Content: Position the next product as a natural step — a recurring membership for someone who’s booked three lessons, or a related add-on for an upcoming booking
  • Subject line: Match the recipient’s stage — Ready for your next level? or Make your trip a weekend

Audience-sizing tips

Always check the audience count before sending:
  • Too many recipients — your filters are too broad. Add a date range or a tag.
  • Too few — relax a filter, or check that contacts are actually tagged or subscribed.
  • Zero — almost always a filter logic issue. Toggle between All conditions and Any condition to see what changes.
