Each section below walks through a common discount-code scenario — what to set, which limits to use, and what to watch for. Pair these with discount types and stacking rules for the full picture.

Running a summer sale

Goal: take a percentage off every activity for a defined date range.
  • Type: Percentage
  • Amount: e.g. 15%
  • Applies to: Activities (optionally narrow to specific activities)
  • Auto apply: On — customers don’t need to enter a code
  • Limits:
    • Purchase date — the sale window (e.g. 1 June – 31 August)
    • Optionally activity date range if you only want it to apply to activities running in summer
Pair with a campaign email announcing the sale to drive bookings.

Rewarding customers who have booked before

Goal: thank returning customers automatically.
  • Type: Fixed or percentage
  • Auto apply: On
  • Limits:
    • Previous purchase — the activity (or set of activities) the customer must have booked before
    • Optionally constrain to within the last N days for active customers only
No code-sharing needed — qualifying customers see the discount applied at checkout.

Giving a group discount

Goal: cheaper price when a single booking has 4 or more people.
  • Type: Fixed or percentage
  • Auto apply: Off (or on — your call)
  • Limits:
    • Minimum tickets — set to 4
Remember discounts apply per item — for a one-line group booking this works as you’d expect.

Making hire cheaper the longer someone books

Goal: a customer who hires 3 hours pays less per hour than someone who hires 1.
  • Type: Tiered (see tiered discounts)
  • Applies to: Activities only (tiered isn’t available on shop products)
  • Auto apply: On
  • Tiers: for example, £0 off the first hour, £10 off each from 2 hours, £15 off each from 3 hours

Giving a discount for booking in advance

Goal: reward customers who book well ahead.
  • Type: Fixed or percentage
  • Limits:
    • Early booking — set the minimum days ahead (e.g. 30)
Only applies if the activity is still that many days away at checkout.

Giving a discount for last-minute bookings

Goal: fill last-minute capacity.
  • Type: Fixed or percentage
  • Limits:
    • Last minute (surge) — within N days of the activity start
The opposite of early booking. Useful for filling slots a few days out.

Giving a discount for booking multiple activities together

Goal: a bundle deal for booking Activity A and Activity B together.
  • Type: Fixed or percentage
  • Limits:
    • Activity combination — select every activity that must be present
If any required activity is missing from the basket, the code doesn’t apply.

Giving a discount automatically

Goal: a discount that just works, with no code to share.
  • Code: Leave blank
  • Auto apply: On
  • Applies to: Activities or memberships (the supported types for auto-apply)
  • Limits: Whatever conditions you need — purchase date, activity date range, etc.
Customers see the discount applied at checkout without typing anything.

Sharing a code and tracking its usage

Goal: hand out a discount code and see who used it.
  • Pick a memorable code (e.g. SUMMER25).
  • Add a usage limit if you want a hard cap.
  • Optionally add a max usages per family limit for a one per customer rule.
  • After launch, open the code’s detail page to see the Baskets using this code table — every basket where the code was successfully applied, with status and customer.
For audit and reporting, this table is your source of truth on redemptions.
